Nov 22/23, 2018: Puerto-Vallarta, Mexico

A few more from our relaxing week here in PV. Sunsets; Thursday night, local night market at the Marina, fantastic with over 200 vendors selling just about everything from home baked goods to incredible local art pieces (some touristy stuff but more interesting type art); great Italian dinner on the water; some interesting animals and a great last day on the beach. Very nice week indeed. So, how’s the weather back home? Waiting here in my shorts and flip flops, do I need to change? LOL.

A few more from this wonderful day...

Nov 21, 2018: Puerto-Vallarta, Mexico

Another nice breakfast over at the Marina followed by a day in PV. We had read about a bus stop across the street from our resort, 10 pesos or 60 cents cdn takes you into town, paid only in pesos of course. The buses from the marina are new and all have air conditioning and run pretty often, so we gave it a try. Perfect. Clean, safe, easy, taking us right into town with plenty of stops to jump off. Bonus for cruisers, we passed the cruise ship terminal where there were two ships in port, just make sure you have the pesos and you can easily get into town and back. We began our walk at the beginning of the Melecon (boardwalk along the waterfront) to the river where the market runs along the river for a few blocks. We strolled, took in the sites, made a few purchases before coming back. One funny story here...

Jan was looking at a few items in one souvenir shop, 10 pesos for this 10 pesos for that kind of thing, so she asked me for some cash, I told her that all I had was a 200 peso note and I said something like, “this will be good so I can get some small change”,  she said, “don’t worry I’m going to spend it all”.  Wow, okay, looks like your going to buy a lot of stuff. I took a seat outside. She comes out with nothing and still the note in her hand, “so what happened”, I say, she said she changed her mind, well okay then. Bank note still in hand, we jumped on the next bus to head back, it was a bit crowded but there was a seat for Jan beside some tourist guy and in a couple stops a seat opened for me. Well during all this there was busker on the bus playing a guitar and singing, he entertained us for a few minutes before walking down the bus with his hat out. I told him that I did not have any small change for him and sorry ( I only had 200 peso notes), he smiled, nodded and continued down the bus before jumping off. Some minutes later the seat beside mine came open and Jan joined me. We started chatting and she mentioned the busker, and I told her that I could not give him anything as I had no small money, Jan then said, “yeah, I just gave him the note you gave me”, “what”, I said “your kidding right” and she said “no, it was only 20 pesos right”, “ah, no, it was 200 pesos”. Let’s just say she made his day if not his week or in fact his month. That was an expensive couple of songs. Ha ha.

Needed a two for one margarita after that, so headed to the Marina for a late lunch and then back to the resort to watch the sun go down. Great lite dinner tonight as we watch the second of the two ships depart this evening. Another nice day here in paradise.

A few more pics...

Nov 19/20, 2018 Puerto-Vallarta, Mexico

Yesterday was a fun day as we “viewed” the new product in the Vidanta growing empire. Aka, a time share opportunity. Our introductory person, Lucas, was very pleasant as he toured us around after our “free breakfast”, the product, grounds, amenities and rooms were all very spectacular, really, very finely appointed with great quality finishing. This property is going to be home to Cirque du Soleil theme park in the grandest scale. All very nice but not for us and with our lifestyle just doesn’t work for us. That said they were definitely trying to tell us and guide us into thinking that this plan was perfect for us. Four or I think in total five salespersons later we departed without a new timeshare in hand. Why did we do it, well upon check in we were offered all these discounts if we looked at this new development, we said we were not interested in a timeshare and were told that was not like that. Now there’s a play on words, I guess the word timeshare has a few different meanings, lol. Anyways always nice to see what’s new out there and for some people this type of vacation arrangement does work, just not for us. No pics of the resort as we will not be getting any referral fees, lol.

Today, we walked across the street about a half a block and stumbled into the a beautiful marina area, not quite like Cabo San Lucas marina front but well its way to getting there. We had breakfast on a water pier restaurant over there and walked the entire marina area, lots of shops, restaurants, tour vendors etc. Very nice, including seeing a crocodile sitting on the rocks and then swimming in the marina. Ran into a local with a Labradoodle that looked so much like Zydnea that we had to stop for a pat. Back at the resort for a relaxing afternoon, great sunset and another wonderful meal.
