I read something very interesting about Tampa today, in the late 50's Tampa was home to many Harlem-like clubs such as the Cotton Club, the Apollo Ballroom and the Little Savoy. Tampa has also been said to be the birthplace of "The Twist", the dance made famous by Chubby Checker. Some say the leader of the Midnighters, a popular band in small time circuits, wrote the song "The Twist" after seeing some kids do the pelvis swivelling maneuver in Tampa. So there you go "The Twist" founded here…
This was huge ship turnover day today and moving day for us. So we packed everything except what we had on hangers, left the ship to get it to a zero guest count and then came back on to our new room. HAL were great in that they moved all our stuff within the half hour we were off. Interesting is that we moved from probably one of the most spacious rooms we have ever had to a front window on the Promenade Deck, probably one of the smallest rooms we have ever had. And considering it that is was from an inside to an outside and a fewer categories higher makes it even more interesting. We may be looking at some inside cabins in the future, we are no longer highly regarding the window - we shall see.
Also the vibe of the ship has changed, seems like the one week party crowd has joined us. The show lounge tonight was standing room only, great opening cruise show once again. Ket West tomorrow, we did leave a few places on the table to visit tomorrow from when we were here a few weeks ago. Hmmm, I am writing this at about 11 pm and am hearing some very unusual noises - first time we have been this far forward in a ship, seems we are just below the show lounge. Will keep you posted on this location…
A few pics of today, hope you enjoy…
