Beijing, People’s Republic of China - Oct 16, 2011

Yes there is a day two...
Our day began with Jerry and Du our driver at 8 am off to the Ming’s tomb. An hour and half later we were there. The Ming Tombs were built between 1409 and 1644 to preserve the remains of 13 emperors, we visited the main tomb.

The Chang Mausoleum is the earliest one amongst the Ming Tombs in which Emperor Yongle, Empress Xu and his concubines were buried.
This gold crown is woven with hair thin gold filaments, vivid and lively. The gold crown unearthed from Ding Ling is rare in the treasure house of China’s relics.

We then took a stroll down the majestic Sacred Way. This willow treed line walk contains beautiful statutes leading to the Ming tombs.

Then off to the Jade factory to learn all about jade, very interesting and informative, Jerry was very helpful when it came to purchasing a few pieces.

Lunch we were treated like the emperors, we entered the huge restaurant with many tables, many common tables for large groups. A few words from Jerry and we were taken to large private room, a huge table set for two, the lazy suzy came in real handy.

Okay now the highlight, The Great Wall of China. This sight speaks for itself, we hope you enjoy the pictures. We entered at Badaling, there are two options here, an easier tourist infested side and a more challenging less traffic side, we opted for the more difficult side, still busy but I think offered better photo opportunities. We made up tower 13, the highest point on this part of the wall.

Our Beijing experience came to a close with a tour past the Olympic Village, here is a picture of “The Bird’s Nest”.
Thank you Jerry a memory we will cherish always.
Tip or comment of the day. By way of a picture.
