October 16, 2024 - Honolulu, Hawaii

Our day two in Honolulu included a $13.00 Uber ride into Waikiki Beach area for a walkabout including Duke’s Market and a good beach stroll. Now Duke’s market is a mini version of what the International Market Place used to be. This is the market of pukka shells, ukuleles, $5.00 T-Shirts or 5 for $20.00 kind of thing. If you are facing the International Market Place it’s just over to your left about 50 yards. The International Market Place is now more of an outdoor mall with air conditioned stores filled with a variety of different types of items to purchase - better quality T-Shirts, artist goods and many clothing stores. We spent a good three hour here in Waikiki before grabbing an Uber back to the ship because tonight we were in for an amazing dining experience. A couple from the ship (old cruising friends, Ken and Lois), invited us to an exclusive restaurant here in Honolulu. So we had to get back to the ship to rest up and get ourselves ready for our 4:45pm departure.

If you get the chance and you are a Sushi lover, grab a bottle of Saki or beverage of your choice (BYOB) and check out, Omakase by Aung at 567 Kapahulu ave. There is no sign here and there is only room for twelve (one large bar counter with very comfortable chairs), so book as early as you can. You will be rewarded with a fabulous night of well paced, “chef choice”,  sushi and entertainment. No menu here, we had about 13 different sushi dishes all melt in your mouth, full of flavour, wow. If you enjoy sushi, you will not be disappointed. Cheap, no, but here you do get what you pay for. What a fantastic evening, we thank Ken and Lois for including us in this experience, BTW, their third time here.

We took an Uber back to the ship from here and just in time for the Polynesian Local show on board, a great way to end our second day here in Honolulu.

Some pics, hope you enjoy…
