October 19-20, 2024 - At Sea

We have a former weatherman on board and he is giving us the forecast for this winter, hmm looks wet and cool. Well that was yesterday, todays topic was Atmospheric Rivers and how they get created and the impacts along with the long range future predictions. Yes, he gave us the current weather as the BC Coast was getting hit with an incredible Atmospheric River, talk about timely. Bottom line is that they are essentially Hurricane type phenomena but rather than rolled up like a cinnamon roll they are unrolled making them long and narrow and filled with moisture. With them being so narrow they are not predictable as to where they will punch. For example when we were watching the videos of West Vancouver and Deep Cove, I looked at the cameras that I have on the Sunshine Coast and yes, there was rain but nothing like what hit the Lower Mainland. On the graph he had today you could see the punch or the eye was directly on the Lower Mainland but the coast was in the shadow of the punch. Lucky for us but our thoughts go to those who experienced the punch in our city…

Tonight on board was our final Dressy or Gala night, so surf n turf was back on the menu but no more surf, surf and turf for free the extra lobster tail is now going to cost you $5.00. Yikes, things continue to change. Anyway it was fun while it lasted. Great day and great night as we danced the night away with the Rolling Stones Band in the World Stage.

A few pics, hope you enjoy…

Okay, I think we may be hooked on this afternoon tea thing… Dutch Tea today…

Some traditional Dressy night pictures.

Yes, and the elevator picture. Traditions after all.

Surf n turf.

Dancing to the excellent on board band.
