July 28, 2022 - Bray, Ireland - Part 1

The ship is at anchor at Dun Laoghaire about 8 miles out of Dublin, unfortunately the owners of the docks in Dublin have no interest in having cruise ships in their port. For us this is not a problem as only a few years ago we spent a good week in Dublin as well as a few weeks traveling around Ireland. Today we headed to Bray in the Wicklow mountains, a 20 minute train ride away. When we were here a few years ago Jan missed out on this hike so I thought this would be a great way to spend our time here. About a few hundred yards from where the tender is the local train station, the DART. Easy to use computer screen you enter where you are and where your going (return), number of people, tap and out comes your tickets. About 3 minutes later we are on the rapid train heading to Bray. We enjoyed a good number of hours here including returning to a restaurant I had visited in the past, fantastic Fish and Chips, with a Guinness of course. What I found interesting is that Bray is really catered to a local crowd, perhaps a nice day trip from Dublin. There are plenty of restaurants but no souvenir shops, so no fridge magnet from Bray.

We returned to Dun Laoghaire for short walk about before returning to the ship for a well deserved nap and getting ready for the evenings activities. A very nice day here in Ireland.

A few pics of our beautiful seaside day, Hope you enjoy…. We did have an opportunity to send our granddaughter a special birthday wish from here. We wish Avery a very happy 6th birthday.
