We have enjoyed calm seas for our final two day crossing of this Grand African adventure and of course a plethora of on board activities to keep us very well entertained. Sunday was the final wonderful brunch served as a multi sample three course meal. We had a nice, back of the ship, table and enjoyed with cruise friends, Nona, Sherri and Terry. From here we had to make a bee line to the very popular crew talent show, we arrived in the show lounge 40 minutes prior to show and lucky to get some good seats. The crew talent show replaced the former cultural Philippine and Indonesia shows of the past. Although we found the former shows awesome it was great to see the crew showcase their other talents. There were 12 acts in total over the course of almost 2 hours, judges included, Florin (Hotel Director), Ron (Beverage Manager), Erica (Events Planner) and us, the guests. Lots of fun and many great acts, ironically although there was the move from a “cultural” show, the winner was Pling from Thailand, on her first ever HAL contract - she performed a traditional dance from her home country, she won with by unanimous support from the judges and the guests. The evening closed out with a standing room only BBKing Allstars, they really blew the roof off the Main Stage once again - incredible energy.
Yesterday was dedicated to packing and organizing. A shout out to our cabin stewards that were so excellent throughout this voyage, Ketut and Wandi. For the first time ever these Stewards pulled our empty luggage cases from under the bed, a task that I dread and that’s because there is so limited room and the size of the bags. When I returned from breakfast they were in the next stateroom and I said, okay, time to get organized and pack. I opened our stateroom door and my mouth dropped when I saw the bags all out and ready to pack - thank you guys, this usually takes me some time, frustrations and a few curse words to get to this starting point, excellent work. Two or three hours later we had our six suitcases packed and two carry ons - whew. Four for shipping, two for check in. Then it was time for the Captain and Crew farewell, always a guarantee to bring some tears to some eyes - well done. Our final Trivia was next up in the Crow’s Nest followed by using our, one day, thermal spa pass. Unfortunately Jan had already packed her bathing suit so I enjoyed the facility solo, nothing like waiting until the last minute to enjoy this perk but awe, so relaxing.
Great final dinner and final goodbyes in the Main Dining Room and a really great comedian to end this day and this cruise.
Some pics of our last few days at sea, hope you enjoy…
