This is really a great little spot here in California, we really could have enjoyed one more day here. Today we headed and took in the auto tours in the San Luis National Wildlife Refuge Complex. They have a Elk viewing route and a birds of the wetlands route. Both would have been great had we come at dusk or dawn but at 32 degrees the Elk where taking shelter in the thicket. We did see a good amount of waterfowl but you really need two things here, binoculars and a good camera - I unfortunately left my camera in our trailer, oops, so a few pics with iPhones. Coming back through town we stopped at a recommended fruit stand (one of the good folks at the RV Park), we were told that the strawberries here are probably the best ever - well I will say they are pretty darn good, yum.
We had a good Sunday Interstate drive today down the I5, making our way to Palm Desert in a few days, our overnight stop tonight is at Soledad RV Park in Acton. We are in area Q (Q28), as suggested by the ranger when we checked in but if this was more than an overnight we would have selected either section M or A. This is a huge campground and currently undergoing some major upgrades. The grounds here are fantastic with resort style pools and lounge areas. Definitely worth checking out again on a drive through, I would stay 2 maybe 3 nights. Tomorrow should be shorter drive putting us about an hour out of Palm Desert, we will have two nights in Idyll
