August 15, 2019, Dublin, Ireland

So we have come full circle as we wrap up our visit to this wonderfully friendly country, Ireland is fantastic and certainly worth a good visit. We were up early, well early for us at 7:00, breakfast at 8 then on our way by 9. As we were planning to spend a few hours in Dublin, I called Hertz rental and had my drop off changed from the airport to were I picked the car up in the city, no problem. I also asked about dragging our heals a bit because I wanted to drop off our luggage at the airport hotel first, again no problem. Well with traffic, etc, it was about 11am before we got to the car rental place, once again, no problem. People are just so nice here.

We made a small loop visit to Dublin, which included, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, circa 1212 AD. We went inside this time, very nice church as far as churches go. We then did one last stroll through the Temple Bar District and up Grafton Street, including a visit to Saint Stephen’s green (a very nice park full of people relaxing). Stopped for a snack, really needed a wifi connection as I noticed earlier in the day that the number 16 bus goes right past the hotel. A few clicks later and I had the route and schedule and we were good to go. It was also great running into Denny today - he was guiding a group and in mid sentence saw us and said excuse me to his group and came over and shook our hands and had a good chat about our trip and what we saw - his group did not seem to mind.

So we concluded our trip with seen Molly Malone one more time and our guide, Denny from the beginning of our Irish journey, very fitting. Ready to go home now, a few pics of our day, hope you enjoy...

August 14, 2019, Dunboyne Castle, Ireland

So today was a big change transport day, from the far south to close to Dublin, Dunboyne. It is doable in about three hour but we kind of took a longer trek because we wanted to see Waterford and the Kilkenny Castle. So with stops we were a good seven plus hours, point to point. We are at a beautiful Castle Hotel but to be honest I really have not given it a good look. We checked in to our amazing room, had dinner in the lounge and basically getting ready for tomorrow. We need to return the car relatively early and sort out the dynamics of checking into our airport hotel, this is all around timing. So calling it an early night, hope you like our few pics of the day...

Pictured are Waterford then the Kilkenny Castle where we had a tea and cake in what was the former kitchen, now tea room. Nice.
