Sharm e-Sheikh, Egypt - Mar 23, 2013

Our short day in Egypt just got shorter as a result of having to anchor and tender in rather than docking as originally planned, oh well we make the best of our time here. Sharm el-Sheikh is really all about diving. It has a dramatic coastal landscape with incredibly blue blue waters, it is situated on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula along the Red Sea, making it a popular tourist destination year round for foreign as well as domestic travelers. The bay is popular for various watersports including snorkeling and scuba diving. Not enough for us here to do the beach snorkeling thing, we did have time to wander into the town and take some pictures of the incredible markets and purchase a few things, Jan is now on her third pair of sunglasses. A comment about some of the Egyptian vendors, a few in particular, we low balled a seller for an item and it seemed that he took it personally - he said we offended him by suggesting a price so low that made him feel like a bad guy for telling us what his price was, come on I said this is about bargaining and not to take this so personal, he walked away were it is usually the buyer walking away - I think he was trying to use reverse psychology on me, didn’t work. And second, do not tell a vendor that you will come back later, we said this to a spice guy when visiting his store early in the day, as we were walking out of the city centre heading back to the ship, we heard this voice behind us saying hey you said you were coming back, that it was not nice to say this to an Egyptian if you did not mean it. Boy talk about sensitive not what I expected here in Egypt. Some pics of our short day here...
