At Sea - Captain’s Dinner - Black and Gold Ball - November 9, 2013

Upon returning to our room on November 8th we found an invitation on our stateroom table, Captain Fred Eversen and Ms. Brooke Nantz Present their compliments and request the pleasure of your company at the "Captain's Table in the Pinnacle Grill ...". Wow, kind of a main event on this cruise for us. A few years ago we felt very fortunate to be invited to this intimate dinner setting and I will say that returning to this table is like a fantasy, turned dream, turned to reality. Just amazing. From the setting, to the menu, to the orchestration of the how the courses are presented, to the wine pairing - it is simply a delightful culinary dance, both visually and for the taste buds. Daz is an amazing chef, who along with his team are challenged for each of these dinners as the captain requests to have no repeated dishes. Jacques and his team also do an excellent job at making sure that each glass remains at a constant level, with of course the correct complimented wine. The service is second to none as I believe there may be more servers than actual guests at this dinner, thank you Tina. Which brings me to our table and our wonderful hosts, The Captain and Brooke, Jeff and Joy were also at this event as were Clyde and Carla (our trivia team partners), so we did know many of the guests. The other two couples where also very nice, in fact the gentleman across from me from Holland was also named Gerard, so Brooke had it easy with being flanked by two Gerards. A great table, a great dinner and a great night as we all made our way to the Black and Gold Ball for dancing. Hopefully the pictures justly show the evening's events.
