Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia - November 1, 2013

Still on the Island of Borneo, on the northern tip is Malaysia and Kota Kinabalu. The Ensemble Group once again gave us an additional included excursion here so great thanks to Carla at WD World Travel and representatives on board, Clark and Martha Skeans.

Kota Kinabalu is situated on the tropical island of Borneo. It is the capital of the Malaysian state of Sabah, which is one of two states of East Malaysia. KK as Kota Kinabalu is known, is a modern capital with a warm hospitality surrounded by long sandy beaches, paradise islands, virgin coral reefs and tropical rain forest. Our Ensemble group introduced us to the flora and fauna of this tropical region as well as personal encounter with a baby Orangutan.

This morning we headed to the 64 acre Dalit Nature Reserve located within the 400 acre Shangri-la Rasa Ria beach resort. This reserve is aimed primarily at nature and Orangutan rehabilitation. They are the largest tree climbing animal in the world, are very curious and share 96.4% of the human generic make up. We had some free time at the resort before heading to another amazing Malaysian style lunch. Great day, great photo opportunities, thank you Ensemble Group.

Just a quick note, a very elderly gentlemen in our group came up to Clarke right after our Orangutan adventure and said "never in my life did I think that I was going to be walking in the Jungles of Borneo to view Orangutans" he then thanked Clark. I was right behind this gentlemen, thought about it for a second and echoed my thanks to Clark and Martha as I also did not think that I would be walking through the jungles of Borneo to view Orangutans - a incredibly great experience for me as well. I hope you enjoy the pictures...
