Bali, Indonesia - Nov 03, 2014

Ah Bali, Beautiful Bali, Beautiful peaceful Bali. Bali is a very special place on the planet, a magical place. On this island of Bali there are several thousands of temples, more temples than homes, that showcase the unique and enduring spirituality of this island. The Balinese people are extremely devout and life on the island revolves around prayers and ceremonies. A visit to Bali will change you...

This is our third time visiting here and once again on this voyage we peal back yet another layer of the onion of Holland America and it's people. Jeff along with Brad, Gloria, Margo and Harry have had a head waiter who has since retired from HAL and is back home here in Bali (Jeff specifically has had this waiter for 4 years while on the World Voyages), his name is Made (pronounced, Mad ee). Jeff had prearranged for Made to come to the port and help arrange a day tour with all of us. Made has started a touring company so this was a great fit. What we did not know was this depth and strength of this relationship, when Made saw the group the exchanges were very heart felt with tears welling up in some eyes. After spending the day with Made we had learned first hand as to what a genuine caring individual he is and how much he is missed on board. Twelve years with Hal was enough as he has his family in Bali that need him around. The crew here on board are more than people that serve, they do become like family, we have met many a crew member that we feel close to and this invitation today of going yet another layer closer to how endearing some of these relationships can get was very special - we had a very special day here in Bali.

Made rented a very nice van for us to comfortably ride around in, we visited two major temples, The Tanah Rock Temple on the rocks sea and the Lake Danu Temple at Bedugul. we covered a lot of miles and made many photo stops along the way. Our pictures are in three uploads taking you from sunset to glorious sunset. Thank you Made for the great day and for the opportunity in getting to know you, we look forward to our paths crossing again at some point in the future.

Hope you enjoy our pictures of our day here in Bali... Happy 10th Birthday to Zydnea.
