Castries, St. Lucia - Feb 22, 2015

Ahhh, we return to our very first Caribbean Port, Castries St. Lucia (April 23, 2014), nice to see something familiar. Looking our this morning I saw the bar where you spend $5.00 and you can get internet all day, hmmm. We are signed up for the Catamaran tour at 12:30, this may be a great place to spend our time this morning and that we did. Was able to get caught up on a few things.

Castries is the capital of St. Lucia and is where the majority of the island's 200,000 inhabitants reside. The island was founded in the mid 17th century by the French where Castries became a major coaling station for the Royal Navy. Today Castries boasts a booming tourism industry that attracts thousands of visitors from around the world

Our catamaran cruise and Morne Coubaril Estate HAL tour was excellent. We boarded nice and close to the ship, visited Marigot Bay  stopped in at another great bay for a forty minute dip, had some great Rum punch (well some of us did) before disembarking in Soufriere where we toured the Morne Coubaril Estate, an eighteen century sugar and cocoa plantation. Very nice and great samples. While on the Catamaran the ship left Castries and anchored in Soufriere Bay and had the tenders pick us up along with two other tours. Here the ship stayed with the stern facing the UNESCO World Heritage Site's Piton Peaks, just magnificent as we watched the days ending sun light close the curtain on the these peaks as we slowly sailed into the sunset. Another great day and great tour.

Tomorrow a sea day, yeah, four ports in a row, whew time to enjoy this wonderful ship. Tomorrow's blog will feature this ship in all its glory….

Hope you enjoy today's pictures…, special shout out to all our new followers, our new friends from Sao Paolo on the Costa ship, the Canadian couple we met on the beach (stay warm as they fly back into sub zero weather) and the couple we met just today from Pensilvania, welcome aboard.
