July 22, 2016: Ketchikan, Alaska

Let's call this half a sea day and half a port day as our lines were securely tied up at 3:45pm (rather than 11:00) and although all aboard was at 8:45 pm we had a 7:00 invitation to a VIP reception, so we were back on board just after 6:00. I know, such a tough life.

We were met with rain but as we started walking about town it stopped so we had a pleasant couple of hours strolling around picking up a few items we had our eyes on a week ago when visiting here.

Our private tour, well full credit to HAL for allowing a couple of complimentary phone calls as well as full credit to Ketchikan Shore Tours for the professionalism they gave us. They first tried to move our tour time and when this did not work out they are giving us full credit for the tour. We will definitely look at this company again. The rep told me that this was not unusual for a ship to be delayed so they are prepared to make adjustments when necessary. Again full marks to you guys.

For my Ketchikan detail please look to my upload from last week. As mentioned we had a nice walk about, back on board to get on the formal attire then off to the reception. Very nice small group of us 5 star people along with most of the officers, perhaps a dozen at the reception in total. We had another fantastic dinner in the Pinnacle, I know I am showing the pinnacle ponch at this point, oh well will need to shed this off pretty quick (enjoying all this while we can). We then headed to the main show lounge for the final cast show of this cruise, another great performance - what an incredible stage here aboard the Noordam.

The captain still has the pedal to the medal as we cruise along at 21 knots in a 50 knot headwind, could get rough tonight. He still needs to make up some time to get to the narrows at a slack tide. Should still be a nice cruising day tomorrow. We are loosing our hour tonight so after the show we packed it in and now at 1:00 am time for lights out. Hope you enjoy our few pics of the day... Also pictured here is Made our wonderful cabin steward, he keeps little home away from home so very nice.
