Aug 02, 2016: Desolation Sound

Well for our first time up here in Desolation Sound we get some of that wet stuff, hmm what to do. We delayed our start by about an hour then simply zipped on all the boat covers and hope for the best. By the time we cruised down to the sweet spot of Dezi Sound, Prideau Haven, the rain stopped long enough for us to remove our covers to open up the views as we puttered around the big toys floating on the hook in this very popular bay. Prideau Haven is a very large protected anchorage with several arms allowing for several boats and shall I say yachts (and yes mega yachts) to spend a good part of the summer. A great a area to just float and admire, many of these yachts dingy's are larger than our boat, lol.

So as we are cruising around I see what looks like a familiar boat name, Milagro, hmm, maybe I'll get close and sure enough there is Keg, friends and family, nice. We stopped for a little visit and chat, great seeing a old friend, looking great.

From here we headed over to Refuge Cove for fuel and a late lunch at the infamous, Hamburger stand. Yum as we chow done cheeseburgers and fries - can anyone say "Cheeseburger in paradise". After a bit of shopping we headed back to Homfray Lodge in a pounding rain, fun..., first time running in such weather. I knew our water conditions were going to be okay, no gales or anything, just a chance we could get a bit wet. The boat covers worked out well, just got a bit wet, wished out boat had windshield wipers though. At the time of writing I am sitting on the boat with the tunes playing and the sun making a return, it is all good (a G&T in hand of course). Pictured with bbq oysters is Dave, one of the owners, this area is known for the amazing oysters, well he invited me to have a sample. His son Tod, barbecued these perfectly with olive oil, Tabasco sauce, seasoning salt and a bit of Parmesan cheese...absolutely delicious. It will be a late supper for me tonight. Here is our pics of the day, hope you enjoy...
