Day two in Singapore was a double explosion of sights, smells and tastes. First we had another excellent day wondering around Singapore using the very user friendly Metro. Can't recall who Jan was talking to at the time of the first picture of the day, but using Skype and her cell phone she chatted with a few people back home for about an hour - amazing technology as this hour was not that expensive. The only problem is the internet connection, first you need a good reliable connection and for those reading this that she did call, you may have noticed that she did have to call back on occasion as for some reason she was booted out and had to resign back on. So it is something you can't necessarily rely on and at time can be very frustrating but very nice to able to phone home relatively easily.
On with the day. We started in the trendy Clarke Quay area where there are many shops and restaurants and very nice to stroll around. We took in the sights here as we wandered towards Fort Canning Park, St. Andrews Cathedral, the iconic Raffles Hotel (home of the Singapore Sling) and over the Bugis Street where we ended up last night. A little shopping here as you can see Jan bought herself a new pair of shoes then it was back to the Metro for a quick look at the Botanical Gardens before heading back to the ship for a picturesque sail away.
