January 11, 2019: At Sea

Another beautiful sea day as we begin our circumnavigation around South America, sunny and warm with a nice breeze and calm seas. Up and out for Tai Chi at 9 am, followed by guest lecturer, Tim Calvert at 10 chatting about the Spanish settlements in the Americas, very good. Took in my first cooking demo of the cruise in the Americas Test Kitchen, preparing classic dinners for two, in this demo it was a chicken marsala, rice pilaf and warm chocolate fudge cakes - all looks very doable. Lets see, then i was working on some computer stuff leading up to 1pm trivia - we did not do well today. Quick lunch and then a 2 pm seminar on our next three ports and then the 3 pm dance class featuring the Merengue today, fun. Quick swim at 4 pm as this ship is doing something new, we had a open house hall party today at 4:30. Grab a glass and head into your hallway, red wine, white wine and champagne are served by roving staff members where this gives you a chance to meet your neighbours, the officers also roamed the floors to meet everyone, we had the Captain come by for a chat and a photo stop. Great idea. Rest time until our formal night where we very fortunate in having a guest officer join our table, Charles, the ship’s doctor from South Africa - made for a very nice evening. Another great day capped off with our first look at the Prinsendam singers and dancers in their first production show of the cruise - excellent. Port day tomorrow so time to wind down. Never a dull moment here on board. Our formal night pillow gift tonight was a rechargeable battery pack with our cruise embossed onto it - again very nice…

A few pics of our day, hope you enjoy…
