Honolulu, Hawai‘i – October 9, 2025

A Calm Escape at the Hilton Lagoon

After a full couple of days exploring the energy and culture of O‘ahu, we opted for a slower pace today—and it turned out to be just what we needed.

Thanks to a tip from a fellow traveler on Facebook, we discovered the Hilton Hawaiian Village Lagoon, just a quick 10-minute Uber ride from the cruise port. This turned out to be a perfect little pocket of calm tucked right on the edge of Waikiki.

The Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon, as it’s officially named, is a man-made saltwater lagoon open to the public. Nestled beside the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort, it offers a peaceful, wave-free swimming experience that’s ideal for families or anyone just looking to float and relax without the typical beach hustle. The water was clear, calm, and wonderfully warm—perfect for a few quiet hours of doing absolutely nothing.

After soaking up the sun and lagoon vibes, we wandered just a few steps over to a beachfront restaurant for Happy Hour lunch with live Hawaiian music. Great food, good prices, and even better atmosphere with the ocean right beside us—it was one of those “why-don’t-we-do-this-more-often” moments.

If you’re looking for a break from the buzz of Waikiki Beach’s main strip, this little lagoon escape is a fantastic alternative. You still get the island beauty, but with way fewer crowds and a much more relaxed energy.

We wrapped up our day watching the ship sail away from Honolulu, the sun setting over the Pacific and casting that golden Hawaiian glow one last time. A beautiful farewell to a little slice of paradise.

Aloha.
