We sail into Walvis Bay under a heavy mist, this is very common here where water meets dunes. The mist moistens the seaside soil to give it enough to allow for some vegetation growth, after that it is all sand and dunes. The fog or mist lifts each day around the 10 o'clock mark which it had done for our visit here today.
We watched Barbara's port talk yesterday and she was so excited about the Seal and Dolphin excursion that we decided to join her in the fun. Great tour and great fun as Suckey the seal jumped right up onto the Catamaran trampoline area at the front of the boat. We had visiting Pelicans, Sea Gulls along with other birds landing on our boat looking for a few handouts. We were in area on the bay that is home to some 27,500 seals, apparently there are over 3.5 million seals in Namibia, human population is just over 2 million (our guide was happy that seals are not allowed to vote). Over to the next area were the Dolphins gliding gracefully through the water. Then it was time for a served lunch including the best oysters I have ever had. This along with open faced sandwiches, spring rolls and many different other finger foods. To drink, well the day started off with coffee, then switched to Sherry (a good 11 0'clock in the morning blend), then to Namibian beer and finally Champagne, it was a wonderful day on the water.
