Two more fabulous museums today, Napoleon's Tomb and the Orangerie. Napoleon, 1769-1821 rests here under its green base standing 15 feet high in the centre of a marble floor. Wait there's more, if you opened the lid you would find an oak coffin inside holding another ebony coffin, housed in two lead ones, then mahogany, then tinplate until you find Napoleon himself. Great tour here not only of this incredible little man's life but also a fantastic displayed presentation of WWI and WWII. Pictures include Napoleon at both his peak and his downfall. I have also included a pictures of Napoleon’s stuffed horse, yes his actual horse he used in battle. In another wing there is the battle history, including much of the weaponry used in the times between, King Louis IV and Emperor Napoleon. From here we wandered to the market street of Rue Cler for a wonderful plat du jour lunch of a veal stew, yum. Last stop was to famous water lilies housed in the Orangerie museum. Claude Monet, as he struggled with cataracts towards the end of life completed these amazing pieces stretching around two huge rooms. Did I say we had another wonderful day, a few pics, hope you enjoy...
