At Sea - Feb 03-04, 2020

We quietly leave the Antarctic and the Southern Ocean, the fog did lift and we did have some nice sunshine as we headed back north, bonus we also had calm seas as we cruised to Cape Horn. Our scenic narration began at about 6:30 this morning as we glided past the Cape Horn Lighthouse and Albatross monument (made from old sailing vessels that did not make the passage along with the many crew that perished making the turn around The Horn). The seas where calm enough for us to fully circumnavigate Cape Horn (It is an island where Cape Horn is located), so we went from the Southern Ocean, to the Atlantic Ocean, crossed into the Pacific Ocean and then back into the Atlantic Ocean, how cool is that? This gave everyone a chance to really feel the historical nature of this incredible part of the world. Very significant at one point until a little Canal was built much farther north. After our loop around we headed into the Beagle Channel on our way to Ushuaia, very beautiful, very scenic cruising most of the day.  Because we are now ahead of schedule we are docked here for an overnight stay, this gives many guests a chance to touch land after some 9 days at sea - also great for the crew. With us visiting here just last year, we stayed on board and kept to our usual routine, dinner in the dining room at 8, followed by the main stage show at 9:30. We will do our walk about town tomorrow, all aboard is 1:30pm for some very scenic cruising - lets cross our fingers for the weather gods. Only a few pics of today, hope you enjoy…
