August 8, 2019, Bunratty, Ireland

After our wonderful two day stay at the Hotel Meyrick in Galway we headed southwest to the Ferry town of Doolin. Once again, crazy busy, people come here as the jump off point for the passenger only ferries that can take you to the Aran Islands. There are three Aran islands, Inis Mor Inishmore, Inis Meain and Inis Oirr ( Big, medium and small), the islands are a bit of throwback in time, no cars, there is horse and buggy, walking paths and bike riding. There are many artesian residents making plenty of everything wool. Hostel, camping, B&B’s are all big industry here. We checked it out to see about possible ferry rides for tomorrow but with it being so busy I just can’t see it as being a fun thing to do. It showed up on my radar as a possibility a few days ago so thought we would just check it out. Ended up double or was that triple parking in the lot to take a few pics of the Cliffs of Moher from this side. Then it was on to the amazing Cliffs of Moher, our real destination of the day, did I mention it was crazy busy here? We sat for almost an hour in a half kilometre line up to get into the parking lot, I felt bad for whoever was on the highway just passing through as the line was on said highway. That said, they are used to crowds here and the system works pretty well, just got to wait. Once you enter and pay there is enough turnover in the parking lot to easily get a spot. I will let the pictures speak for themselves as the cliffs are simply magnificent. The cliffs rise about 120 metres (390 feet) at Hags’s Head to a maximum of 214 metres (720 feet) just north of O’Brien’s tower where we were. Wow. Great day of hiking along these cliffs before heading to another fantastic Castle Hotel here in Bunratty, the Bunratty Castle Hotel. More exploring tomorrow... Hope you enjoy our pics from today...
