March 19, 2019: Port Elizabeth, Bequia

Another wonderful new port for us. Bequia, is only seven square miles in size but it’s the second largest of the 32 islands and cays of the Grenadines, smaller only to St. Vincent eight miles to the north. There are about 5,000 people calling this mainly English speaking lsland home. It is one of the most popular anchorages for Caribbean yachts and other sailboats because of the beauty of its main port, Admiralty Bay.

This was a beach day port for us as we wind down another day of our amazing grand voyage. Our ship is anchored just outside the some hundred plus yachts and other water crafts, so the tender ride in is fantastic as you cruise by all these beautiful anchored vessels. If visiting here, this is a wonderful and simple port, you get off your tender walk to the end of the pier and turn right. Enjoy and stroll past the many vendors, stores and restaurants and you will find yourself on the Belmont Walkway. Here you will find more funky shops, restaurants and accommodations along with many opportunities for snorkelling and / or dining. Continue along this walkway and you will come to the Princess Margaret pathway, taking you, Princess Margaret Beach. Along this beautiful soft white sandy beach there will be many local vendors offering you a lounge chair (sun or natural shade) for a reasonable price of $10 USD all day. All vendors also offer 2 beers (or soft drinks) for $5 USD. We stopped about midway along the beach and rented our chairs for our about 4 hours of sun, shade and swimming. Just a beautiful spot with warm, easy to swim in water and a great stretch of beach to stroll along.

We returned to the ship for the, sail away party, which included many types of included beverages, very nice and nice touch as we sailed out of the bay with the band playing. Needless to say but another most excellent day. Tonight was pirate night in the main dining room, lots of fun as Bagus and his team went all out in the decorations once again.

A quick update of our missing mask, we had a knock on our door this morning at about 8 am and our mask has been found. I believe my chat with the Head of Housekeeping helped as he was determined to find the missing items. He assembled his team at about 7 this morning and sent them on the mission, by 7:30 all items were found, yeah. We thank him and his team for the effort and for finding our items. Lesson learned, they will be improving the communications between the several departments involved when something like this happens. For us, all good - the last picture in our day’s photos.

A few pics of our day today, hope you enjoy…
