Another nice relaxing sea day as we mark our 2 months on this Final Grand on the Prinsendam, so time to do laundry. Well not actually do the laundry but to visit the place where the laundry is all processed on this ship. The Executive Housekeeper, Hadi Saptono was our guide for this 24 hour seven day a week operation, in short wow, not a huge space for all that is done and processed in this space. From all the towels to the bed sheets, table clothes, napkins and all the guest laundry to be done here under the careful watch of Hadi is truly remarkable. Hadi has a policy that laundry is to be done within about 8 hours of being collected and there is one guy whose job is to ensure that each piece is inspected prior to processing to ensure each piece is processed correctly, so he is a very busy guy. The washing machine can wash just over 400 pounds per load (50 minute cycle), which then gets switched to the drying and pressing stations. The pictures here are worth a thousand words. It is very warm down in the laundry room, some two flights below the crew deck (the crew deck is one below the bottom guest deck), no windows, just laundry, laundry and more laundry. Yes, we did put a load into the production cycle tonight as there will actually be limited laundry done as we enter the Amazon River, so it should be done by tomorrow sometime.
Today, we also had Italian night in the Canaletto Dining room, so this was above and beyond the regular Canaletto menu. Elvi did a fantastic job in servicing us, Michel, Silvie, Jan and I. Great night as we wrapped it at showtime with the MacDonald brothers, finalists in the XFactor back in 2006. So another great sea day. Tomorrow is our gateway city to the Amazon, Belem. A few pics of our day, hope you enjoy…
