July 01, 2017: Naples, Italy

Happy 150th Birthday Canada, hope the celebrations are going well. Travel day today as we shift gears and say goodbye to Sara and our wonderful accommodation at the Castello Izzalini Todi Resort and drive to Naples, okay, the Naples Airport as you need to gave your head examined if you actually drive into Naples. Just driving to Naples gets crazy enough, ever have someone pass you at 150 Klms per hour only to come back into your lane clearing your car by a mere 6 inches, welcome to Naples. We dropped both cars at the airport and did the wise thing and took a taxi to the hotel, Hotel Correra 241. Drivers here create lanes were they just don't exist, unbelievable.

Checked in, then headed to the Archaeological Museum to view the plethora of artifacts from Pompei and Heculanium from the catastrophic eruption in 79 AD, amazing, we are seeing these for the second time for two reasons, first we are visiting Pompei tomorrow (we were there 19 years ago so it will interesting to see how much more has been uncovered) and second, it helps refresh the memory coupling that with this being Paul and Cathy's first time here and thus really one of the main sites to see.

After our visit we headed back to the hotel to meet up with our gadventures tour group for a meet and greet as we will be spending the next 7days under their care - sounds great so far, we will be well taken care of as we venture down and hike the amazing Amalfi coast.

Optional dinner tonight with the group at the oldest pizzeria in the world, Naples is the home of the pizza and Antica Pizzeria is the oldest, pretty neat. Toured the kitchen with the forno over built with the lava rock from Mount Vesuvius. Amazing pizza, great night. Here are a few pics of the day, from our adventures, PG rating your may want to censor your viewing…
