June 27, 2017, Umbria, Italy

3 hours plus northwest of our villa is the UNESCO World Heritage Site and Renaissance town of Urbino, this was our target town of the day. Yes we did take a scenic drive all part of the days excursion, we even dipped our toe into the La Marche region - wonderful.

Urbino is a hill top town with its twin towers is a wellspring of great art and architecture. Thanks to the patronage of 15th century Duke Federico of Montefeltro, it looks like the quintessential Renaissance town. Cobbled streets, terra cotta roofs and pale brick walls conceal the incredible treasures. As recommended we toured the Ducal Palace, beautiful and bigger than I had imagined it would have been, add a hall of mirrors and you could almost have the palace of Versailles here. Great day, great touring around here are few of our pics of the day, hope you enjoy…
