Jun 10, 2023 - Antelope Canyon Plus

After our visit to the Upper Antelope Canyon we picked up our Zhalbey from the day kennel, Pampered Pets on Poplar Street (Very nice, very reasonable - recommended if you don’t want to leave your baby in the rig) and we headed towards the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. The monument sign was about a 30 minute drive from Page but that was just the sign. We had to change into 4 wheel drive and headed about an hour off road to see some fantastic sights. Our brochure read, “Known globally to hikers and backpackers for it’s complex sandstone labyrinths and unique rocks and canyons, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument is unbelievably beautiful. Get off the beaten track and explore”. Well getting off the beaten path is what we did for the balance of our day before heading back to our base camp for an early dinner and sunset.

BTW, the company we booked the Upper Antelope Canyon Tour with is Antelope Slot Canyon Tours, phone number 928 645 5594. I would consider them to be a premium tour provider and you do get the bang for your buck.

A few pics of their vehicles and terrain to get to the slot canyon. Some, had pointed out comparisons to Petra in Jordon, I would almost call it a hybrid of Petra and Wadi Rum. From what we have seen so far in our travels is that US has some amazing exploring opportunities. It is a very unique country with so much on offer, we look forward to our continuing travels.

Pics of the rest of our day, hope you enjoy…

You could go by open Jeep transport but be prepared for eating some dust.

The amazing opening to the slot canyon.

The Saturday Street market here in Page.

A fantastic drive, 4x4 highly recommended. Many soft spots.

Our RV Park

It will be very nice when it gets up and running fully.
