Jun 15, 2023 - ZION, Day 2

Zion National Park is amazing, just amazing. Today we had to leave our little guy, Zhalbey, behind because we needed to use the included shuttle service in order to access the even more scenic area of the park. We first rolled the dice to get a parking spot inside the park st the Visitor Centre, 20 minutes later we had success, awesome. Next over to the shuttle, one was ready to go and there was room, hooray.

Our plan for the day was to take the shuttle to the last stop, number 9, Temple of Sinawava, then shuttle back to the Zion Lodge (#5), then taking the Grotto hike back to #6, The Grotto stop and then return back to the Visitor Information Centre where our truck was parked.

So yes there are 9 stops along the shuttle route, where each offer great hiking opportunities. One could spend days and even weeks here exploring this fantastic park. With our limited time we chose two hikes, the scenic Riverside Walk, which leads into the Narrows hike (mostly in cold water), we stopped were the Riverside trail ended. Our second was a short Grotto Hike from our late lunch Zion Lodge stop. The Lodge is beautiful and they serve a pretty good lunch.

We were already 5 hours in and felt bad about leaving Zhalbey that long on his own in the trailer - yes climate controlled with some nice music playing. All in we were 6 hours out today. We fuelled up on the way home to get ready for our drive to Provo tomorrow. I had a request in at one RV Park that I did not hear back from, so we are staying for a one nighter at the Provo KOA.

Our pics from our day, hope you enjoy….

The shuttle line up, pretty good.

The Riverside Walk

Pretty flat, paved, so very walkable.

Incredible ferns.

The end of the trail. Across the Virgin River begins the Narrows Hike.

Some people cooled off in the River.

Nice walkway.

The Grotto Hike.
