We say goodbye to the wonderful crew of the Daniele and our excellent guide, Sarah and then at the train station the many hugs shared as our group separates with the clumps of new friends going off in many different directions. It was a wonderful week of shared friendship experiences and gastronomic delights. Eight of us are off to Lyon for a few days. Lyon is about an hour and a half TGV train ride south of Dijon. Lyon is also the second biggest city in France, after Paris of course.
Great easy train ride. Carla had organized a transfer to the hotel, excellent. Nice hotel, very central, Citadines, Apart Hotel, fully appointed including kitchenettes. After a short stroll through the old town we met our guide at one of the squares, Emmanuel. Now we have had some interesting and quirky guides before and this guy us right up there in the quirky category. From silly little games and puzzles to having us act out a puppet screen, we all thought that this guy is either a clown or kindergarten teacher. He talked gastronomic but only provided a few gastronomic eats, such as some cheese, salami and macaroons. He did show us some interesting ways to get around the city and some good gastronomic history but what took two hours probably could have been in a half hour. I’ll say we were somewhat entertained.
A short break from 6 to 7 and off to an incredible multi restaurant Street very close to our hotel, lots to choose from where we ended our search at Le Winch Restaurant. Very nice, middle of the row small cozy spot for a good meal and some wine.
Some pics of our day...
