Sept 7, 2018: Château Chaumont

After another wonderful buffet breakfast at our hotel, we organized ourselves to move to another area of the Loire, great having the bike company move or luggage for us. We followed the gps bike route the best we could, well until it led us to off-road single track terrain. So we had to do little improvising to re link to the correct route. But again because we were driving and not biking, today we were able to spend about four hours at the Château Chaumont, nice. This Château hosts a garden festival every year, this year’s theme is, gardens and feelings. Very nicely done, we spent most of our time here in the gardens.

The Château itself has been around since the 11th century. The first priority of the times was defence, the Château is a long climb from the village below - but thanks to my Rick Steves book we found parking hidden up top, nice, near the South Gate should you ever visit here. While not as grand as other Châteax, still worth the visit. Hope you enjoy our pics of the day.
