Sept 08, 2018: Chitenay, France

Well either the internet here is crap or blogspot just blew up on me. Still blogging just not sure where this will post. I have a few days in the queue but blogspot will not let me post, a cautious warning for any blogpost users, it is not a reliable platform.

This hotel, the Auberge Centre serves breakfast in the Veranda room, a very nice continental buffet to get you going in the morning. Today we opted for two, drive by Château picture stops and one detailed visit. We drove north about a half hour to the medieval town of Blois for a quick look but ran into a market day (Saturday) and blocked off streets and lots of traffic - just not in the mood for that at this point, been there done that. Don’t get me wrong, love market days but only when in the mood and we had a full dance card today. We also did a drive by and took a quick couple of pics of the big one, Chambord today. This Château demands a full day to really appreciate it but we had our sites set for the Château at Cheverny today and wanted to spend the time here today. So we got to see Chambord from a distance a took a few pictures, very impressive, my few pics do not give it the justice it deserves. Our time and our focus was with Cheverny today. Cheverny is over 600 year old and is still run by the same family, they still live on the third floor. This Château is very well kept and shows well with great furniture displays and narration. The grounds and forest are still used for traditional events such as hunting, there are about 100 dogs in the kennels at the ready for the two times a week the owner goes hunting. There is a golf cart type tour that takes you into the back woods as well as a half hour boat ride the takes you along their river. This is also the house where Tintin takes place and there is a separate interaction area for that, really that portion is nicely set up for the kids.
