February 03, 2019: Antarctic Experience - Part one

This was an definitely an OMG day to highest amount. 4:48 am is when my eyes opened, peaked out the window an saw a little ice shelf off in the distance with a clear sky, awesome, get a bit more rest before getting up. Do you think I could get back to sleep, no way, as the thoughts were rolling around in my head, hmm, clear, this could be my only chance, what happens if it clouds and fogs up, okay, that is it I’m up. 5:15 was up on the top deck starting to snap my pics, what an incredible day. Jan was up shortly thereafter and with a total of three cameras going today we clicked almost a thousand pictures. You could imagine the fun I had in shortlisting our day in pics. So, two pic uploads today and I will let the pics speak for themselves. Why, well words cannot describe the incredible beauty here and well, since a picture is worth a thousand words, these pics can only give a small insight to what we say today, so a thousand words is a good start but we are speechless and breathless. Location wise we are on the Antarctic Peninsula, where we headed into Dallman Bay and circled into Paradise Bay, then through the Neumyner Channel, we are now on our way to the Palmer Station. Wildlife, in additional to the stunning scenery is what we enjoyed today, Penguins, check, Seals, check, Sea lions, check, whales, whales, and more whales, check, and yes plenty of birds. We even felt we crashed a Penguin Pool party at one point, a perfect ice shelf with plenty of penguins and a pool right in the middle, how cool was that. Just know the ice shelfs you see in these pics are hug and magnificent, just breathtaking.
