February 25, 2019: Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

It looks like when I reread my post from the other night that I must have been very tired and somewhat stressed as it contained several errors, both in straight up writing and in simply using the correct words, so sorry about that. We move forward. At about 2:00 am, the night of trying to check in, I finally did get the correct reservation code and was able to check in for the flight as well as get an electronic boarding pass. After taking some time to wind down I was probably asleep by about 3am only to be up by 6:30 - call it a good nap. Breakfast, then airport  and with the boarding pass on my phone strolled through security and an hour later on the plane, felt good. It was a two hour flight to Rio De Janeiro, nice and smooth and easy on what felt like a newer plane. The only thing was that there was no service, four flight attendants but no cart, no snack, no offer to purchase anything, nada, zip, nothing - strange. We found out later that if you wanted water, you had to push the attendant button and they would come and then get you some water, again very strange.

Landed in Rio, yeah, and our transfer was waiting for us, again yeah and we were back on the ship within an hour, triple yeah. Very nice to be back home and to see Jan, who was sporting a new hair cut. Quick lunch and a quick step out into Rio but only around the port as they were having a 300th Prinsendam Sail away party at 4:30 with complimentary drinks - so, okay quadruple yeah. Very nice to be back as we sailed away with commentary out of the port of Rio De Janeiro and with a thunder and lightening storm in our wake it was spectacular. Well the rain did catch up to the ship and we had torrential rain on the ship where many cabins experienced some serious water problems, from carpets to ceiling flooding in the closets - clean up is still happening today. This is written a day later as I needed some sleep last night and went straight to bed after our wonderful dinner - and no our cabin was not effected, most damage done on the port side. Finally, a plug for our driver in Iguazu Falls, if you are looking for a driver and she could probably link you with a guide, our guide Orico was great (did not get his card unfortunately), I am attaching by way of her business card as a photo, her contact info. She is great and has a van that can fit probably 13 people, we were 7, so we were very comfortable.

A few pics of our day and sail away from this wonderful city… hope you enjoy.
