November 13, 2021: Rome, Italy

We are living a no hurry attitude with this visit to Rome. This trip was so last minute we are just taking one day at a time and really only coming up with a loose plan the night before. I watched a little Rick Steves clip on some of the museums and he mentioned the Musei Capitolini, another one we had not visited, so off we went. It is located just behind the monument dedicated to the tomb of the unknown soldier, where we have visited many times but again did not look beyond it. This museum included areas that are built upon the the discovery of the relics from the beginning of Rome. In visiting this museum give yourself at least a few hours to really appreciate the art that it contains, some fo which dates back to the 8th century BC. We happened to complete our visit at about sunset and where able to enjoy a drink at the twilight with sun’s ray gracefully illuminating the western sky. Today, we got very lucky with full sun and temperatures reaching a comfortable 21 degrees - another great day. Dinner tonight, well when we were back in Vancouver and had just booked this trip, Jan went online and booked a restaurant in the Trastevere area (subdivision?), a wonderful place named, doc cruderiabistrot, small, quaint, relatively new restaurant served us a fabulous meal and of course, Italian hospitality, of complimentary lemonchello (sp). The walk there was a little more than we had anticipated, close to an hour, so we did work up a good appetite. Yes, we took our first cab ride back to the hotel, nice driver, all in $15 euro, pretty fair. Hope you enjoy our few pics of the day…
