Sept 20, 2021: Mara Lake

A very nice day of visiting and touring around the place that we spent much time some 20 plus years ago. Mara Lake and Sicamous are not shielded from the Urban creep as there are now Condos and many new homes that are far from vacation cottages. I won’t use the word overbuilt as there looks to be a potential of much further growth here. We had a nice stop at a local waterfall and then a nice walk along a newer beach area, this area includes something we have only really seen in Fort Lauderdale. The area begins at the Lake and then goes under a nice pedestrian bridge to a protected lagoon with homes to the waters edge and each having their own private dock - very nice. We then headed to the new golf course, well new to us, it has been there for about 20 years. Perched beautifully over on the cliffs over the lake, Hyde Mountain Golf course looks to be a cart required 18 hole challenging course which looks to be in pretty good shape. They have a wonderful large deck with a nice menu for our lunch overlooking the calls lake waters below. Back to the house for a little set up of the wall plaque, wrapped her in chains and placed it strategically on a nice large tree just off the driveway. Then it was time for a little lake visit for a happy hour ending at the house around a nice warm campfire. The evening ended with an excellent bbq Coho salmon served with roasted potatoes, vegetables and delicious salad. A very nice few day visit here with dear friends at Mara Lake.
