Sept 18, 2021: Revelstoke

Sleep was really not to be had last night. The lovely pitter patter of the rain on roof, turned to wow it is really coming down to the 4 in the morning Chinese water torture. I put in my noise cancelling headphones which helped immensely especially when I put on some other white noise. So got to sleep probably an hour later but it was definitely off and on before and after that, so not a great sleep at all. The campground was very nice but we just hit it on a bad weather night. With coffees in hand we headed to Emerald Lake and the Emerald Lake Lodge, what a magnificent setting. Great RV parking, had some breakfast, made another coffee and had a nice stroll around the lodge and the grounds. There is some great hiking here from a circular lake loop to hikes to a few other lakes. You can also rent canoes here for a nice paddle across the lake. Again, the weather could have been a bit better to give us the entire panoramic  mountain views, perhaps next time. Speaking of weather, this played with us during our two hour drive today, Glacier National Park and Rogers Pass could have been a bit more picturesque , we had a combination of low hanging cloud as well as the smoulders of the past fires, some you can easily still see from the highway. Perhaps a good thing that it was raining through here. We arrived in Revelstoke at about 2:30 pm and found some grub at the local McDonalds before filling our gas tank. Our propane is down to about a quarter of a tank which is a bit of a concern, so do you think you can fill this up anywhere, think again. Houston we are having a problem here. We tried several stations claiming propane but only for refill on tanks and not RV’s, hmmm. We think we may have found a spot in Sicamous tomorrow but I am not holding my breathe. We then hit the grocery store for some supplies and the liquor store for some badly needed replenishments. Our GPS played some games with us getting us to our campsite but we all figured it out. The Revelstoke Campground is a former KOA so very well laid out with full plug ins, laundry and free showers - all good. Now hopefully a good night sleep, we tried to not park under any dripping trees…
