We enjoyed our last breakfast at I Pozzetti this morning, funny just when you memorize where all the pot holes are within the kilometre around our home base, it’s time to move on, lol. Check out was easy and friendly and we did finally learn more about out accommodations. Originally built for agriculture purposes in the 19th century, this Agriturismo sites on over 100 hectares with some olive trees in the age range of over 1,000 years old. Descendants of the original family, this family continues to run this enterprise as well as two others, in addition to maintaining the farm. At one point they did have mixed farming but changed their focus to only the olive trees and resulting olive oil. Yes, we purchased some as we left. We thank all the family and staff for our wonderful week at your accommodation.
We set out GPS to Calabria and have now moved from the heel of the Italian boot to, well where the laces would by, specifically just outside of Gizzeria. We are here overnight to break up the drive to Locri tomorrow. Jan’s family comes from a little village just outside of Locri, Gerace, we will make a stop there before heading to Locri for a couple of nights. Jan has a distant relative that lives there so there will be a bit of family connection time tomorrow, this is where FB really shines. Our overnight stay is in a very nice, Hotel, Restaurant La Lampara, right on the beach. Nice dinner at the hotel and we are just getting ourselves organized for tomorrow. A few pics of our long drive today, 240 klms, hope you enjoy…
