November 22, 2021: Puglia, Italy

Today was Tai Chi around the pool kind of day, a little more chill but still a knock your socks off kind of day. In the early afternoon we headed sea side, the Adriatic Sea and a little resort town named, Polignano a Mare. This town is only about a half hour away from our home base here and definitely worth a better visit than the drive through visit on our first car rental day. Again, with mixing up the long and short drive days, today was a short one day. Polignano is the home of some of the best grottoes including one right at the beach. So yes, the socks came off as I just had to put my feet into this incredible sea and setting - temperature was not bad, par with our summer temps at Half Moon Bay. Polignano also has one of the 10 best restaurants in the world, in the Grotta Palazzese, unfortunately for us it served it last meal of the season on November 14th - we have a very good idea as to how it looks inside, or outside as it is set in one of the grottoes, amazing.

From here we drove through Monopoly before having an afternoon rest back at home base. Tonight’s dinner was at a recommended village, Citernino, this is a meat based village where all the types of meat are on display as you walk you, you point, they cook. Donkey stew anyone? We started with the Buffalo mozzarella with prosciutto, Jan had the traditional pasta made here while I had the baby calf filets - rolled up with a crispy delicious crust… yummy indeed. So I was going to have something different for dessert tonight but this restaurant only had one item on it, Tiramisu, so okay, we will have two. Seems like this is turning into a Puglia, Tiramisu tasting competition, with all winners and all slightly different. Another great day, a few pics, hope you enjoy…
